What can i do in this difficult situation with house any advice thanks?

Hi everyone,i would love some advice,i feel like i am stuck Between a rock and a hard place.I am very unhappy where i am living and want to move,now i know it can take a house a while to sell in this economy at the moment,but i need to get out first and clear it all out and maybe do it up a bit,but the problem is i cannot afford to rent somewhere,i will need the money from the house,so what are my options and i don't want to rent the house,is there anyway of getting a place on contingency or something?or do you think the fastest way to a new place would be a house trade?any advice much appreciated thank you
