How did the "Bullpen" get it's name?

There are several prevailing theories, some quite plausible, but the definitive etymological origins of "bullpen" remain shrouded in the deeps of history. Not even Paul on, author of the son Baseball Dictionary, could nail it down. No one is really sure where it came from or why it was derived. Sorry.
